The AFC Youth Championship is an under 19 association football competition in Asia, and serves as the 2nd Asian qualifiers tournament for the World Youth tournament. The winner and runner-up will be representatives for the continent of Asia in the World Youth tournament. In the Battle of World Youth arc, AFC Youth Championship was held in Jakarta.

Japan and South Korea acquired the right to represent Asia at the World Youth as the champion and runner-up, however, as Japan later became the host of the World Youth, the spot earned in this tournament was passed to the 3rd place team, Saudi Arabia.
