Captain Tsubasa: Golden-23 - Asia Gekito Hen (キャプテン翼 GOLDEN-23 アジア激闘編 kyaputen tsubasa golden-23 ajia gekitou hen) is a football game developed and published by Konami and released on mobile phones on October 2008 in Japan. The game follows the Golden 23 arc from the Captain Tsubasa manga series and features Japan's National Olympic team competing in the Asian qualifiers for the Madrid Olympics.

Description[]

The gameplay follows the classic Tecmo Captain Tsubasa style, where matches are played through menu-based commands such as passing, dribbling, and shooting. Each character has special techniques, and their performance depends on stats and levels.

The game consists of 9 matches, divided into 3 friendlies (Denmark, Nigeria, Paraguay) and 6 group stage games (Saudi Arabia, Vietnam and Australia and their repeat matches). Players must finish first in the group stage to finish the first playthrough, but losing a match does not result in a game over. Instead, the player can replay matches as many times as needed, with their characters gaining experience and leveling up after each attempt. If Japan fails to place first in the group stage, the game resets to the first group match against Saudi Arabia, but all character levels are retained, making it easier on subsequent tries.

After completing the first playthrough, the player can choose continue to start over but this time with the full squad, including Jito, Aoi, Tsubasa, Hyuga, Soga, and Akai who are now playable. However, opponents are significantly stronger this time, making the second playthrough more challenging. The game remained lost for over a decade due to its exclusive release on Japanese mobile phones. In 2025, the Keitai Wiki Discord community successfully preserved and dumped the game, making it accessible through emulation.
