Masanori Kato (加藤 正則, Kato Masanori) has played on the same team as Matsuyama since elementary school, guarding the goal mouth and defensive formation.

He first appeared in Captain Tsubasa ch.15 "Now it's the entire country!".
History[]
Captain Tsubasa series[]
He is the regular keeper of Furano Elementary Soccer Club for the 6th Yomiuriland national junior tournament, losing on the semifinals against Meiwa FC.
Three years later, he is the regular keeper of Furano middle school for the 16th National middle school tournament.
In the J Boys' Challenge arc, Kato was selected for the All Japan Jr. J-Village for three weeks, but could not get a spot for the 23 final chosen members.
Rising Sun arc[]
Masanori Kato appears once more as a spectator cheering up for Morisaki in the match between Japan and Germany.
