Azumi Hayakawa (早川 あづみ, hayakawa azumi) is a French nikkei[1] young woman who attended the same school as Taro Misaki during his two and a half year stay in Paris.

Description[]

Azumi first appeared on Captain Tsubasa ch.90 "Big Gathering in Paris!".

Biography[]

J Boys' Challenge arc[]

Azumi is a tomboyish girl just like Sanae Nakazawa used to be. Taro Misaki even introduced her as "France's Anego". She holds a deep affection for Misaki and always cheers for him passionately, though they don't seem to be romantically involved at the moment.

Azumi has proven to be quite important in certain hard moments for Misaki. In high school, Misaki had fallen into a slump, as he couldn't win against Kojiro Hyuga during his years in high school and failed to play soccer on his own, without Tsubasa Ozora. She came to the stadium to cheer for Misaki in the third match, and thanks to her, Misaki was finally able to escape from his slump.

Battle of World Youth arc[]

In this story, when Taro Misaki had his left leg broken because of a traffic accident, Azumi was the one who searched for a good doctor and then introduced him to doctor Hiroyuki Shibazaki.

Etymology[]

  • Azumi's surname Hayakawa means "already, now, fast, early" (早) (haya) and "river, stream" (川) (kawa).

Trivia[]

  • Azumi's personality might be based on the 1983 anime version of Taro Misaki's female Italian friend, Elena.
