History[]

Captain Tsubasa (FC)[]

Main article: Gino Hernandez

Captain Tsubasa II: Super Striker[]

Hernandez was a member of Italy Youth. His team faced All Japan Youth in the second round of the World Youth knockout stage.

Captain Tsubasa III: Kotei no Chosen[]

Hernandez and Italy Youth faced All Japan Youth once again in the Universal Youth. Hernandez challenged Tsubasa to perform the Cyclone, which the latter accepted. However, since the Cyclone had done much damage to Tsubasa's leg, he subconsciously avoided kicking with all of his power, which made Hernandez stop it with ease. Hernandez continued to give trouble to the Japanese attackers until Hyuga returned in the second half with his new weapon - the Lightning Tiger.

Captain Tsubasa IV: Pro no Rival-tachi[]

Italy's number one keeper! He's called the "Perfect Keeper" because of his perfect defense! His golden right hand will not let up on any special shot!
- Captain Tsubasa IV: Pro no Rival-tachi, the Complete Book of Secrets guide.

Hernandez was Italy's goalkeeper in the routes that featured said team.

In Route B, when Hernandez mentioned the Neo Cyclone before the final between Japan and Italy, Tsubasa declared that he would never use that shot again. He still promised to give it his all, however.

Captain Tsubasa V: Hasha no Shogo Campione[]

Before the face-off between Koln and Bayern, Koln was standing on top of the Bundesliga table thanks to Hernandez's performance. However, during the match, Hernandez became too fixated on his personal duel with Schneider. Koln did not lose the match, but Hernandez lost said duel, which made him somewhat angry at himself. He only realized that he was getting carried away after watching a TV show, on which it was mentioned that the key was keeping it cool, as when one was not in the right frame of mind, their judgment would be clouded. He then regained his composure and looked forward to the rematch.

During their rematch, Hernandez was seemingly able to repay the favor by keeping calm and perfectly stopping the Fire Shot. However, their duel came to an abrupt end as Schneider was injured by a Koln player and forced to leave right after that.

In the World Tournament chapter, Hernandez was the regular keeper of Italy.
