Description[]

History[]

Captain Tsubasa Memories[]

He is the regular keeper of Shimizu FC despite being only in 5th grade [1].

He seemed confident that he wouldn't lose to player of the same grade as him, but took a goal from Kisugi, while Wakabayashi didn't take any [2].

Captain Tsubasa manga[]

Kids' Dream arc
Kawakami proved to be very skillful as an elementary school keeper, since thanks to him his team was able to go to the finals. He even goes as far as not allowing any goals against him until he met Tsubasa.

During the finals of the Shizuoka qualifiers Tournament, his team, the Shimizu, plays a defensive 1-4-4-2. They would triple-marked goal getter Tsubasa, and the defensive void was well covered by Kawakami himself, who is Shimizu's own genius keeper, while the rest of them would counter-attack off with tackles, then swam together to collect the high ball to defeat opponent keeper Wakabayashi who was not at his best. Even by putting Nankatsu's top players on a pinch, the latter was able to get the upper hand and Shimizu was defeated 0-3.

J Boys' Challenge arc[]

During All Japan Jr. Youth's campaign in Europe, he appeared from time to time as a supporter in Japan, especially during the finals against Germany[3].

Rising Sun arc[]

As an adult, he made a cameo, cheering Morisaki as he was coming out of his goal to stop Mario Goethe[4]. He appeared again cheering Morisaki as he was performing a save against a super long chip shot from Schneider[5].
