Prior to the beginning of the arc, Nankatsu MS had won the national tournament two years in a row. Under the lead of Tsubasa Ozora, the team earned a shared victory with Toho Academy in the finals of the 16th National Middle School Soccer Tournament, successfully obtaining the V-3.

Home: White uniform w/ three azure stripes and the Nankatsu azure kanji. The captain's armband is blue-white-blue.
Away: Red jersey with red collar and leaf green Nankatsu kanji written on the chest and leaf green numbers, with white shorts and red socks with three leaf green stripes on top. This uniform was heavily inspired in Diego Armando Maradona's away uniform when playing for SSC Napoli for the 1984 season.
Keeper: Red jersey and white collar and white sleeve cuffs, and the Nankatsu kanji, with black shorts and white socks.
Keeper away: Green jersey and white collar and white sleeve cuffs, and the Nankatsu kanji, with black shorts and white socks[1].
↑A player wearing number 18 who looks similar to him is seen in Captain Tsubasa (1981) chapter 64, but it's unknown whether they're the same person.
↑He was one of the 1st year students who joined the football club. Later on, most newcomers left the club because of the intense training, and it was unknown whether he was among those.
