This is the section about Shingo Aoi's techniques, during the Captain Tsubasa series.
Characteristics[]
- Midfield's Dynamo: Aoi's constant movements and natural tolerance to fatigue make it hard for other players to keep up with him.
Techniques[]
Dribbles and feints[]
- Eruption of Mount Fuji: Aoi uses it when he needs to get out of a tight spot, kicking the ball high up into the air and then dashing over to its landing point to trap it.
- Nutmeg Feint: He aims to kick the ball through an opponent's legs in order to get the ball past them and back to the original player; it's a dribbling skill which is commonly used among football players, with some of the most notable proponents in the modern game.
Aoi's Right-Angle Feint

Aoi's Straight Line Dribble

- Right-Angle Feint: It is a fast dribbling or, as the name says, a quick feint, which requires technical high skills, among others: very good ball control and a certain speed, as well as balance, of the player. The technique owes its name to two fast, right-angled hooks, which the player performs during the dribbling in the shape of a "Z". He learnt this technique from his mentor, Ruud Gullit.
- Right-Angle Dribble: Right-Angle Dribble is a dribbling composed of several consecutive Right-Angle Feint.
- Straight Line Dribble: Aoi perfectly copies Hyuga's dribble in order to not be predictable against Uruguay Youth due to his overuse of the Right Angle Dribble. Also called 0o Feint (see Various Angle Feint below).
- Various Angle Feint: Aoi can freely adjust the angle of his feint, rather than going with 90o all the time.
- Right-Angle Tornado Feint: Aoi performs a Right-Angle Feint, then at the moment his opponent is deceived by it, he rotates his body and presses forward, leaving his marker behind. This is specifically prepared by Aoi in order to counter the Right-Angle Defense from his rival Salvatore Gentile.
- Step-over/Scissors Feint: The user moves his leg above the ball, to trick his personal marker into thinking he is moving the ball, while he is not.
Passes[]
- Mid-Air Right-Angle Pass: Aoi pretends to kick a Jumping Volley while he's passing the ball in the air and in a right angle instead.
Ground shots[]
- Bullet Shot: He puts his whole weight behind this intense and powerful shot, which has a distinctive low and sharp bullet-like trajectory.
- Nutmeg Shot: He aims to kick the ball through an opponent's legs in order to get the ball past them in a similar way as the Nutmeg feint.
Aerial shots[]
- Dashing Direct Jumping Volley: Aoi dashes towards the ball from a distance away while it's low in the air and unleashes a Direct jumping volley.

Aoi's Diving Header

Aoi and Tsubasa's Twin Shot
- Diving Header: This diving header shot is used when the ball is low in the air. Moving at a high-speed while also hitting the ball accurately requires a significant amount of skill.
- Rovesciata: An aerial technique and his own version of the Overhead Kick.
- Nutmeg Rovesciata: He does a nutmeg feint while kicking the ball in a rovesciata position. With this technique, he was able to score against an injured Hernandez. He previously beat Bunnag and Thailand with this shot as well.
- Twin Shot: Two people kicking the ball at the same time, on purpose or by chance, resulting in a swinging ball, which is harder to catch and repel. While Tsubasa is doing an Overhead, in the case of Aoi, he's doing a volley.
Cooperative tactics[]
- 2-man Combination Pass: Aoi can perform one-two returns with various teammates.
Defensive techniques[]
- Restless Defense: Aoi uses constant movements to prevent the opponent from getting past with a feint, and eventually takes the ball.
- Right-Angle Defense: Being the first one of the Golden Age to master the Right-Angle Feint, Aoi is also able to use it for defensive purpose.
- Face Block: The user blocks an incoming shot with his face. Aoi once called it Face Block 2, as it was the second block after the first one from Ryo Ishizaki failed.
- Fireball Press: Aoi closes in on the opponent who has the ball, fast and unstoppable like a wildfire, confusing him with constant movements to put pressure on him and eventually steal the ball.
