Skywing Shot (スカイウイングシュート) is Tsubasa's special mid-range shot learnt from Roberto. It was first shown during the World Youth tournament.

Description[]

This shot is, in every aspect, similar to the Raiju Shot[1]. The user must make his leg hit the ground before he's shooting, giving it spring power like a bow firing an arrow [2]. The final shot has a straight course, before eventually rising [2]. Even though the rising effect can be a bit surprising, it's normally not enough to defeat keepers, the shot's strong point is more its speed and destructive power[3]. Similar to the Raiju Shot, it is performable only on volley shots as long as the ball is low, but not if it's high [3], unless the user has the help of a teammate[4]. Because of hitting the ground, this shot should be straining the legs like the Raiju Shot [5], and so, should be risky to use during long leagues[6].

Etymology[]

Skywing translates to "Big Sky Wings". In a way, the Skywing Shot is greatly inspired by Tsubasa Ozora's own name since Roberto was the one who christened this name, despite Roberto developing the shot years before meeting his pupil. In Roberto's own words, his most powerful special shot was predestined to become Tsubasa's own shot.
