The South American-style Dribble (南米式ドリブル, nanbei shiki doriburu) is used by players who have acquired a South American-style while dribbling.

Description[]

This technique has the particularity that, although mostly South American players use it, other players can imitate and later acquire this skill if they've been influenced in their early/youth training, such as the case of Tsubasa Ozora. In this way, Tsubasa Ozora was able to master it after playing for Sao Paulo and following Roberto's teachings, as well as Yuji Soga in Brazil.

Use of the technique

Using the outside of the foot, the player weaves past opponents with the supple movement and light touches that South American players are renowned for. Although footwork remains as the most distinctive aspect, its success relies heavily on having a consecutive explosive acceleration in the user's movements and, not keeping too much the ball, as Tsubasa noticed when Pepe lost the ball in the Sao Paulo entry test. It is said by Pepe that said technique uses soft and solid footwork but keeps the aggressive determination to move forward up to the opponent's area. With this technique, Hino was able to surpass all Japan Youth defense in the blink of an eye.
